Tuscany...La Dolce vida!!!!

In October we took an incredible week long trip to the Tuscan region of Italy.  It was our first trip to Italy which is a 7 hour drive to the northern border.  It took us about 10 to get to the region but was a beautiful drive through the Bavarian Alps, Austria & the Dolmites Region of Italy.  We rented a villa on a for rent by owners vacation site called HomeAway.  We really lucked out.  Our villa was on this beautiful hillside over looking the town of Pontassieve & just below a Castello that is now a winery owner & operated by the Frescobaldi Family & surrounded by vineyards & gorgeous rolling countryside. (see picture above)  It felt straight out of a travel brochure!  The villa owners, that lived in the main house on the property, were amazing to us & so very helpful.  The Italian food & wine was so wonderful.  We were about 30km outside of Florence Italy.  While we were there we took several day trips to places like Pisa, Siena, Florence & Venice Italy on our way home to Germany.  It was a dream vacation & way too many pictures to share on this blog.  So in the following posts I will list the town, pictures & some descriptions.  On this trip we truly learned why the Italians call it 'la dolce vida'...

Inside our Villa

Beautiful Tuscan sunset

The Villa where we stayed is a renovated barn from the year 1500.  There is a large home on the property where the owners live & a small rental apartment attached to that.  Also they have a studio apartment on property as well.

Looking downstairs & through the doors

Our views from the villa were amazing....

The town of Pontassieve was 3km away & was a beautiful old town w/ modern amenities like grocery shopping.

Enjoying a beautiful Tuscan afternoon in October!
