Dierbach Germany Harvest & Wien (wine) festival

Festing, festing & more festing....the Germans/Europeans sure do something right....they are ALWAYS celebrating.  And it's a really wonderful thing! I always joke that they would celebrate a rain drop if they could.  But what is really neat about their culture is the heritage & how many years these traditions go back & why.  We try a lot to get off the beaten path & explore areas that we normally wouldn't.  In Badden Wurtenberg, we are in the heart of the German wine region & just above Bavaria that is deep with it's traditions & there is so much to choose from to see & explore.  We like to follow the online sites that can helps us find the hidden gems & enjoy these fun things.  On this particular weekend, in early October, we ventured off to a Harvest & Wien fest not far from where we live.  It was bustling with people & very neat that they close down the main streets of these wonderful old towns & line them with booths of hand made or fresh baked goods.  Dierbach is surrounded by vineyards in the rolling countryside.  We had so much fun this day & what makes it really special is I don't think we heard another American around?  And finding anyone to speak english was a chore so it made us work to assimilate.  We also had some gorgeous fall weather (notice the shorts?).  Such a wonderful experience.
