Schloss Lichtenstein ~ a fun afternoon trip

This adorable castle is as enchanting as it looks, as if right out of a story book.  A little over an hour south/west  from Stuttgart near  Honau, Germany this Schloss sits high on a cliff over looking the valley & the Swabian Albs (alps).  We took off one beautiful afternoon in November & decided to visit this charming Castle.   We enjoyed walking the grounds & taking in the views of the valley.  There is  a ropes course on the castle grounds & a few places to sit & eat or have a picnic.  Historically, there has been a castle sitting on this spot since the 1200's.  Destroyed & fallen into ruin it was eventually rebuilt during the early 1800's & now owned by the Dukes of Urach but open for visitors & tours.  We did not tour that day but fully intend to go back for one.  The luxury of being so close to some of these wonderful places!

Walking up to the castle can be really deceiving.  You wouldn't know from this southwest view that there is a cliff on the other side.

The colors were so beautiful

Alex was so happy with me....

Brynn playing on a zip line near the castle & ropes course.  It seems like ever German playground has a zip line.   So simple & yet so fun!
